GCA Consulting have a particular specialism in cultural attractions including theme parks and museums. We have worked nationally and internationally on significant sites across the UK and across the world.
Highlights include the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, and the site of the World's First Factory, the Museum of Making.
We design the buildings that house national and regional collection, and specialise in the structural design of museum displays and bespoke curatorial solutions.
Amusement parks
We have worked on internationally known amusement parks, designing rides and attractions to ensure safe, engaging days out for families across the world.
We specialise in innovative designs, working from first principles, allowing us to attempt entirely new forms of construction with confidence and creativity.
The Museum of Making
A notable cultural project for GCA has been Derby's Museum of Making, a £17m national attraction, funded by Derby Museums Trust, Derby City Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
GCA joined this project as members of the Alliance with responsibility for delivering it. GCA made significant contributions to the project, including retaining the existing mill floors through innovative use of load testing.
Ideas led by GCA saved over £300,000 of construction costs whilst preserving the heritage value of the building and creating incredible spaces for future visitors.
