GCA Consulting were awarded ‘Best Construction Project’ in the 2020 IStructE East Midlands Awards, by the Institution of Structural Engineers, for Wirksworth Heritage Centre, a £2m conversion of a listed building into a local history museum.
The project required creative solutions to a range of challenges, from the preservation of a 300 year old timber floor, to the complete removal of key structural walls to create an open-plan museum space.
GCA worked closely with the design team, led by Latham Architects, to complete the project.
