GCA provided detailed structural design for a contemporary extension in glass and glulam timber. It is always a pleasure to be asked by an Architect to support a project at their own house.

This kind of commission is the strongest indicator of their trust in our ingenuity and engineering ability. For this particular project, a long term collaborator approached GCA to develop a small but beautifully executed design for a timber and glass extension to an existing family home.

GCA developed a creative response to the structural requirements: a portalised glulam frame which provided a tactile, natural finish. We ensured the frame had adequate stiffness to prevent deflections under lateral wind loads without adversely affecting the glazing.
